I’ll be the first to admit that it’s been a little quiet around these parts lately, but it’s for a good reason! I’ve been working on an exciting new project with my teamie Robyn Vinter AKA Nuclear Vinter #321 (that’s a picture of us doing some excellent derpy faces during a recent training session). We’re launching Hell Yeah Roller Derby: The Podcast! Scroll down to have a listen or find us on iTunes.
People that know us IRL will know that we’re about as nerdy – aherm, I mean enthusiastic – for podcasts as we are about roller derby, so for us this was a logical next step in ramping up our derby obsession.
Our aim for the podcast is to have interesting conversations with people from all over the derbyverse, covering a broad range of topics from cross-training to recruitment, mental game to men in derby. We figured that since we already spend most of our time thinking and talking derby, we may as well create something useful out of it.
In our first episode, we talk cherry poppers with a lovely group of new skaters at a game hosted by Deathrow Hull back in May. Listen to it below or over on Soundcloud and subscribe via iTunes or your usual podcast app. We’re aiming to put out full episodes every month, on the first of the month, plus bonus mini episodes in between.
If you have an idea for a topic you’d like us to cover, or someone you’d like us to interview (including you!) then get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org. We’re new to this podcasting business, so bear with us if the podcast is a little ‘rustic’ at first (and possibly forever!). We’re also relatively new to this crazy sport and still have much (so much) to learn, so we certainly aren’t claiming to be any kind of authority on roller derby. But we’re going to speak to a ton of awesome, interesting people – some who actually do know what they’re talking about – and we’ll share everything we learn with you.
